NUATALI'S SNEAKY ACCOUNTING TRICK

Every time you hear Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes or Deputy Lord Mayor Declan Clausen spruiking their "outstanding financial record" on council, just remember that in 2021, they literally wiped council's infrastructure backlog without lifting a shovel or tarring an inch of road.

They wiped $101 million off the asset renewal bill overnight against the policies of the Office of Local Government.

It's a sneaky accounting trick.

It hasn't stopped them lifting rates through the roof however. An 80%+ rate rise in Newcastle since 2016. CPI was only around 26%.

We can't afford another four years of Nuatali.
