About the Ward 3 Team

Lead Candidate
Mark Brooker
I have lived in Lambton for 17 years and in Newcastle and the Hunter for 20 years before that. I am married to Katrina and have four kids ranging from 8 to 32 years of age.
I publish a monthly community newspaper called The Local which is distributed throughout a number of the suburbs which make up Ward 3. I am passionate about serving my community. I also do disability support work with a local service provider. I love both my jobs.
I believe local government should be about the community it serves not the politics of the big parties. Council should not be used as a stepping stone to a state or federal seat. Locals serving locals with the best interest of the community as its aim. It's as simple as that.

I have lived in Ward 3 for 19 years, since I arrived in Newcastle as an international student. I am married to Dom, and we have two beautiful and boisterous boys.
I believe that the community is an extension of the home, and I live in one of the best communities in Newcastle. That is why it is important to me to be as involved in the community as much as I can, whether it is joining the local sporting clubs, supporting the local businesses, or walking safely around the neighbourhood.
As a scientist, I value transparency and integrity, and I will bring these values into council if I am elected.

I was born and raised in Newcastle and have lived here my entire life. I grew up in Wallsend and studied at the University of Newcastle, where I attained my PhD in Medical Biochemistry.
Working in clinical research, I understand the value and importance of community engagement and personalised care. I love what I do, and I look forward to representing the community as a councillor.
